As Modi Government takes shape in India..

May 26 in 2014 will be a historic day in Indian democracy, at least hype wise. There have been 14 prime ministers, who have been sworn in, in the past after Indian independence but this one turns out to be special. Thanks to the lack lustre performance of Congress. It (the Congress) tried its own decimation in all possible fronts, it could, so as to virtually get rid of itself (even as a formidable opposition).
The whole world, expanding from the democratic Indian media to south Asian alies to the uncle Sam, everyone is keeping an eagle's eye to see, what this magic man is going to deliver.
Needless to say, he has created a wave called Modi effect, which is seeing Indian rupee as a best performing currency of recent times in Asia. Others are standing and taking notice. Delhi has become virtually a fortress following high profile dignitaries from neighbouring countries and some not-so-useful MPs, tainted ministers also forming part of the invitees for Modi's high profile swearing in, including his council of ministers.
When, we look back in retrospect, what made all these possible, we certainly fail to notice: a big chunk of credit going to "India against corruption movement." It will be incorrect, if we miss the finesse, the big picture, where the agitated Indians looked for an alternative to the corrupt Congress, which delivered scams after scams, when it was supposed to deliver progress (as its name suggested- united progressive alliance!). Indians rode high on Anna Hazare and his team (read Kejriwal) for at least getting a promise of substantial  alternative to Congress. When, the subsequent movement was history, Arvind Kejriwal (AK) smelled power in the bigger picture and dissociated from the movement to offer this alternative platform through governance, by seeking election as a political party. However, without his experience to run a state (read Union Territory) and lack of will to do so, saw him occupying the CM's chair not beyond 49 days and in the process he mistook his own capabilities multi-fold by giving away what people had given him- the "TRUST." Modi encashed this opportunity so nicely that there was hardly any look back. AK and his team facilitated all the credibilities they developed to their opposition (first Congress, then BJP), for free!!
BJP being a 30 year old party didnt have so much of choice of sticking to corrupt-route and pollute through dynastic politics. Also, whenever, they got chance to rule the nation under the NDA regime, they by and large had a clean image and mostly was guided by able leadership like Vajpayee. Hence, people bought the idea of offering Modi a clear mandate against the "Maa-Bete" sarkaar (as Modi popularly refers to UPA as) and giving him a fair chance of governance than a fractured verdict of co-aliton politics, which only gives opportunity to people like Amma, Didi to black mail and stall any progress of the country.
The demise of Congress to a sizable non-existence, is in a way good, even better for some people who only talk non-sense like Lalu, Mulayam. The other day, Mulayam had crocodile tears for not having strong SP leaders to take on Modi!! His numbers are going to reduce from five to four, when he seeks re-election from one of the two seats he (Mulayam) is elected for. There are many such jokers in the name of democratically elected leaders, who need to be shown the door, as we Indians are heading for a matured democracy with more literacy, judgement and the caste, creed based politics should have little room. Only performing leaders should shine and hopefully, Indian Parliament will be a better place to work than a corrupt, criminal bunch.
Lets hope that Modi with all the access of free hand to his credit, performs (rather outperforms) with his own team and take India closer to a dreamland.
With lots of hope..

Changing political equations in India- Elections 2014- Part II

I cant stop myself from writing with a bit of relief that finally the Indian voters have given a mandate thinking above the constituency level. They have voted for BJP to emerge as a single largest party so that it can carry out tasks at ease, not at haste like the coalition politics in India works. It’s a clear mandate, where each Indian is expecting Modi and his team to deliver, very carefully, in the next 60 months to come. Now, Modi cant have an excuse of pressure being acted upon him, from any agenda that was set retroactively, when we try to sit, assimilate, summarize and take stock of events in 2019, when hopefully India is taking on China and US with rigor, becoming a south Asian hub of Science, Technology, Trade and Power (read muscle power)- so that Vietnam, Myanamar, even South Korea looks upto India (as a big brother- or big sister coz we call mother India??) for a possible head on with China at least at bureaucratic level.
My major expectation is
  1. Significant defense spending without a scam that could look for partners like Russia. With a clear majority, India is bound not to succumb to any limitations that comes in the way of development.
  2.    Bringing in some world class public and private universities- promoting grass-root and field oriented research
  3. Promoting self-help groups and their products in international market
  4. Inter-connection of rivers- to minimize flood and making water accessible in depleted regions
  5.   More awareness for pollution management
  6. Job creation to nth level- making India a good place to live with affordability not poverty
  7. Sanitation should top the agenda
  8. Checking corruption at all possible levels so that all the government projects sees the light of the day without major distraction
  9. Finally, I assume that honour killings and violence against women will be automatically taken care of when Congress is out of power

As mentioned in my earlier post, some people smelled BJP’s success in advance and the Modi wave right and made a pre-poll alliance so that they may not be considered obsolete in the changing power equation of Indian electorate. Chandrababu Naidu turned smart this time again in judging the equation again and Nitish kumar turned out to be a dumb ass, hoping to cash on his own PM chair aspiration!
Similarly, I find even Naveen Pattnaik did a good job of holding on the fort all alone in Odisha like Amma in Tamilnadu, mostly for running a corrupt free government, though he has not been able to exploit a Gujurat Model in Odisha. But, more importantly, the diplomacy of this genius reached a new high, when he (with help of some of his aids), hinted a possible outside support to NDA under the condition of a special status to Odisha that was two days before the counting of votes!! Well, he was trying to play safe, at the same time, keeping the options open. As we continue to observer the results, it might so happen that even TDP cant bargain during the five years tenure as BJP might be self-sufficient to go ahead by its own.
All in all, it looks like Mamta Banerjee, Jaya Lalita, Naveen Pattanayak are doing a very good job in respective states and living up to their people’s expectation. In this context, it is needless to say how SP is performing in UP (or what is the expectation from Behenji- Mayavati by people) and for that matter how Nitish’ game has been perceived by people in Bihar (lets tick off Lalu, he will continue to exist, as I mentioned earlier- like Deve Gowda exists in Karnataka). People all seem to have pardoned BJP and Yediyurapa for all its wrong doings in Karnataka- again a clear case of nationalistic thinking than at state level.
I wish Modi and his Sarkaar all the best.

Changing Equations following Elections-2014 in India

One thing Congress did right in the whole span of their ten years tenure was to install Pranav Mukherjee as the president of India. This was in stark contrast to its (Congress') last recruitment in the form of Pratibha Patil, who was a shame in the name of the "first person" of the biggest democracy of the world. She operated all along, in the behest of Sonia Gandhi and at the expense of tax payers' money!! Anyway, at least as per records, the current president is a sensible man and more importantly could neutralise the loyalty rather quickly ,as soon as he assumed the top position, at least till date. It is also hoped that he is going to carve out the best possible solution in the national interest, when it comes to start the procedure of Government formation.

When, the exit polls can be highly biased and not a true representative of what could happen in the present political scenario, my guess is NDA will still fall short of 272 mark by around 20-40 seats and this is a very difficult situation to deal with. Despite the best media snooping, sting operations etc., the horse trading can hardly be checked. To be pragmatic, not beating around the bush, AAP will garner not less than 20 seats. and they will be the political watch dogs, making  an entry to the Parliament.

My belief is some regional parties like BJD will play a larger than life role and I hope Naveen Pattnayak will behave sensibly this time, by keeping a distance from Deve Gowda, Mulayam, Lalu, Amma like people. He has a clean image and he should do something in the national and his own state interest. The same applies to Didi as well but she will continue to be adamant. Afterall, its her vow to keep India underperforming and still trying to rule it. To me, she is another communist with a mask. These kind of people are best avoided, even any consultation. But, alas, they play a vital role and would have to be accounted for. However, this lady should be the last person to go to, as far as Modi is concerned.

Coming back to Modi, assuming that he is annointed the top job amidst all the cautious exercise. I guess he will take some practical steps to be digested as doable by people in a five year plan. I dont think its a Himalayan Bojh!! Sushma might have the home department and hopefully few new portfolios, which are unheard of are created like department of employment. Congress leaders can go for a five year nap with the stock of wealth gathered over last ten years!!

He should first lock up Salman Khursid, Farooq Abdullah, Beni prasad and few others (no no, lets keep Digvijay Singh out of loop, he is a happy man now with romance in the cards, he is anyway, not even worth-it for a seat in Tihar) for their anti-India remarks. They are the true supporter of the terror outfits!! Mulayam Singh should be left to his fate as he will have a silent end like Deve Gowda. Its a pity that Lalu is expecting 8-10 seats in Bihar and JDU may be one in the form of Prakash Jha. I think BJP could pitch in Jaswant Singh from Bihar, just to give him a ticket and make happy, than letting it go to (Lalu) Yadavs.

More predictions to follow..
Stay tuned..

why Modi is gaining popularity and some clue for his future days..

The genuine reasons for Modi's popularity are handful and more importantly timely. Here are few from my analysis:
1. Modi (NaMo) has timed himself better- I think the best part is he has a very good team working behind the scene but deserves maximum credit, may it be Gujrat IAS officers to the PR team he has hired. Though Advani tried similar luck many times in the past by projecting himself an iron man as well as soft man (by Pakistan centric statement, Ayodhya was a mistake etc.) but didnt manage to time it right. When the opportunity knocked the door, it was Modi's call. This is for sure that Advani could not make so much fanfare, what Namo has been upto, lately. Bottomline: Younger is always better (probably Rahul baba is too young and has a supporting mom to take all discredits to her own and still promoting him in the Congress party heirarchy despite different state poll debacles).

2. He talks common language, which many common people understand and more importantly he speaks what majority of Indians are interested in listening. If you observe closely, he is many a times talking bullshit but the TRP of media house runs solely on viewership and unless you are a controversy child, you dont sell and that is particularly something he is harping on, albeit cautiously (thanks to his PR team, telling him what (not) to do) and intelligently (he is certainly smart himself). And see the achievements- he openly challenges EC for the FIR, even congress uninstalled the snoopgate investigation altogether! bottomline- he is n times lucky like Glenn Maxwell is, in IPL 2014.

3. He takes on social media nicely and thankfully it has so far worked to his advantage, unlike the goof-ups of Rahul Gandhi (RG) during Arnab's interview in Times now. RG must have sacked his team following that interview, since they did a terrible job in training him. Of course, it is another story that he doesnt learn many things automatically and quickly, coz he probably needs a or two corporate lessons and should be able to use media to his advantage. He cant cash on the right set of questions to propagate his own thoughts. Thats why, he failed so miserably in Arnab's show, forcing Arnab to ask his own prepared set of questions! Thats like cheating in an exam.

4. Congress again did a very bad job in scrutinising candidates. Afterall its pity that a 60 year old party cant manage 272 candidates like Nandan Nilkeni from a mass of 1 billion, especially having access to everyone's record!! It is afterall understandable when RG is the boss for the recruitment process!! Well, the same philospohy on candidate selection applies for any party, which thinks of losing a seat for a particular constituency.

5. There is no alternative in any form that matches to challenge NaMo, at least in a PM designate level. The so-called third front has people like Amma and Mullu (Mulayam) and even Lalu (when he takes afternoon naps) are talking of themselves as possible PM candidate- a series of laughing stock, which comedy nights' Kapil would not even handpick! I decided not to talk about Kejriwal (AK) coz his achievements so far is just to blame (read expose) others. He deserves to be in CAG not in politics, as you need to deliver, at least that I expect as a voter from an elected representative.

What I dont like about NaMo:
1. A definite agenda for what he would, could do for India for which sector of people, is missing! Rather than mudslinging, he could possibly project himself as a visionary. but again, media sells are in favor of his Tantrums. His promises are all in air, though he has proven promises in a Gujurat model. He thinks inclusively, which is a big plus for him.
2. He talks about Maa-beti all the time. Its time he takes himself higher than all these pettty issues. Should avoid taking questions, which goes against the dignity of a PM-to-be chair, I am sure, there exists tons of better way to deal with these questions. Afterall, they are not as difficult as some of the primetime US journalists.

Few suggestions for NaMo-
Since this is time, the country is seeing Namo, in the name of a future PM, he must devise some guidelines for himself and project on following terms from hereon and may be follow the agenda in his first speech to nation on following lines:

  1. reduce loose talks
  2. Talk about logical, feasible growth model- if possible at least highlight the areas
  3. Carve out the biggest problems India is facing and plan to build new portfolios around that- apart from some stupid ministries present for the namesake- he can take a cue from Amir Khan's Satyameva Jayate program
  4. come down heavily on some holocasts like Medha Patekar, Mallika Sarabhai, Arundhati Roy kind of poster idiots who are born to defame India, that is only job they have in mind
  5. Talk in a way, the educated mass start believing his words beyond a feku vocalist
  6. He must sign off people like Nitin Gadakari, Yeduyarappaa and another corrupt bunch for life from BJP- its better to detach politics from some all time idiots like Lalu, Mulu and Deve Gowda- the current age Kumbhakarna, who was even dreaming of installing some nth front and become a PM in 2014 elections!! (Having said that on this earth, we could still survive Mayavati, Amma, Didi and another bunch of nari netris)!!- every state has one such (or more) model available for free!!
  7. Take a strong, very very strong stand for policies against China, Pakistan and US, even EU- this would also mean a three to quadraple increase in defence spending- I really dont care if it costs that much from Exchequers- I hope that we get some stashed money from European banks- not only Swiss!!
  8. To cleanse the mess five years is certainly a very good time, if BJP gets an absolute majority. Otherwise, its going to be a tough task in the coalition dharma.

Good luck Narendranath Modi

Well to comment on Indian politics, being impartial is important. As a friend mentioned, no one is "doodh ka dhulahua" and this means that one is filled with loopholes. In a democracy, we have to choose someone who fairs better over others. Unfortunately, in democracy, there is no luxury of choosing people based on portfolio such as x is best fit for defense, y for development. So, this boils down to the only choice of selecting a package that serves you the best: incoming free, outgoing charges minimal- as a loose example of Indian politics. I wish politicians were free to choose from a sector of people who are honest, the foremost criteria, then comes "desh bhakti," personal interest etc.
There are tons of things that can be changed at ground level and we need innovation even by common man, which we term as philanthropists. But, the point is it should be so motto not enforced. It should be one's inner intent not a forced optimism. That’s why a US system works where only president is elected and others are chosen by him. So in short, people dont have to bother about selecting a bunch of idiot, jokers starting from ND Tiwari to the latest Andhra pepper sprayer to Deve Gowda and other kharate lenewales and the list continues to some shoe-licker constables like Shinde. Unfortunately, some Ex-CFOs (infy), Gopinath (Deccan) like people are also biased by opportunists like AK. Well, he doesnt even play his cards right to be in a good will of aam junta and often times showing off his real motive in the same terms of seasoned politicians like Yadavs (pick from any state, doesnt matter).
Bottom line is kranti is yet to arrive, there is no Rang de Basanti coz only handful ppl see tons of opportunity in making billions just by deceiving people. So, the choice is simple, trust who you think is better amongst them, at least till u see hopes for five years. Coz, you know the choice of every individual willing to make a difference has been shattered by false promises by AK like people. I don’t think, there could be rise of another party like AAP, who could live upto people’s expectation, at least in recent times! That procedure is closed at least for a decade. Honestly, I cant count on AK coz he lacks a vision, his window of vision is so closed that he only sees corruption as the only agenda to move on! Aare Ram Rajya also had the biggest misgovernance, which led Sita to seek solitude else where! The true fact is Ram didn’t have the ability nor willingness to influence the dhobi by his so-called gyana. He found Sita as an easy prey to conduct the job and make himself a hero out of it. Unfortunately, there were no critics then or rebels!
Major compromises are already made right from national security to handling terrorism, VOdafone data handling se le kar Google, NSA snooping tak, handling China, bowing to NATO for the Italian marines when Italian economy is sinking, showing no big brotherhood to continued middle east crisis and the expectation list continues. No one has agenda of putting India in global map! only concentrated billionares growing, while foreign investors move away from spending in India due to right from bureaucratic huddles to aalsi sukhi junta, not ready to work, ready to take a nap in the afternoon, as they are guaranteed an employment under NREGA of Rajeev or Indira or Nehru for 250 odd days!! Leader alone is not enough, we need many who have to follow and follow it really hard. Do we see a Jago India Jago?
